Aromatherapy Blends for Mental Concentration

Blends To Apply Directly To Skin

To use: Blend and apply these formulas to the back of the neck, chest and temple area until the oil is fully absorbed. Breathe the vapours deeply.

Blend #1

Spearmint 4 drops
Tangerine 4 drops
Cedarwood 2 drops
Sesame oil 2 teaspoons

Blend #2

Rosemary 4 drops
Bergamot 4 drops
Clove 2 drops
Sesame oil 2 teaspoons

Blend #3

Juniper Berry 3 drops
Bergamot 3 drops
Lime 1 drop
Rosemary 1 drop
Sesame oil 2 teaspoons

Make Your Own Cool Shower Gel

Now that the heat is on, we can cool off in the bath or shower with this easy-to-make, all-natural gel. Even after overexposure to the sun, it will leave your skin feeling dewy and smooth, tingly and refreshed–a great warm-weather treat!

Make some for yourself and your friends; poured into a pretty bottle, this would be a great gift, too.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup herbal shampoo (look for one that is detergent-free; avoid labels that list any variation of “sodium lauryl Sulfate”)
1/4 to 3/4 cup water
3/4 teaspoon salt
8 drops peppermint Essential Oil
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
Blend all the ingredients thoroughly, adjusting the amount of water to get the desired consistency.

Blends for those Pesky Tiny Insect Bites

Gnats and Midges Bites

Dilute 3 drops of Thyme in 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar or lemon juice and apply to the bites. This should stop the irritation.

Or as an alternative, just dab on neat Lavender

Bedbugs and Flea Bites

To avoid risk of infection, bathe the bitten areas and apply neat Lavender.

Summer’s Evening Bath

2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
2 drops Chamomile (Roman) Essential Oil

For Bath: Add Essential Oils to a tub full of warm water and mix well.

For Sunburn: Add Essential Oils and 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar to a 4 ounce spritz bottle filled with water and spray on sunburn.

Dealing Naturally With Swimmer’s Ear

Swimmer’s Ear aka Otitis externa

Fun in the sun and splashing in the water. This is part of the summer ritual for just about all kids! But what can happen with all that water - especially if it gets in the ears and never really gets a chance to dry out?

Bacteria and fungus love moist, warm conditions and if the ears don’t really get a chance to dry out your child may develop Otitis externa - inflammation of the outer portion of the ear and canal. This problem can be mild to extremely painful.

Essential Oil Blend For Spider Bites

Dilute 3 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil
in a teaspoon of alcohol. Blend together well and apply to the area
three times-over one day should suffice.

Black Widow Spider Bites

Lavender Essential Oil is reputed to neutralize the poison of this spider.
